Sight-Reading Improve Your Sight Reading

Sight-Reading  is an important component in learning any musical instrument, not just for exams (for which the Improve Your Sight Reading series is of vital support), but for learning any musical instrument, sight-reading often provokes negative emotions at best.

The Improve Your Sight Reading series provides a structured approach, by the perennially popular (and award-winning!) Paul Harris.

Paul Harris says:

It's always been my contention that everyone can learn to sight-read. It just takes some methodical teaching and learning. I hope the Improve your sight-reading series presents enjoyable and systematic material which, if worked through carefully, will ensure sight-reading success.

The series helps pupils overcome problems by building up a complete picture of each piece, via rhythmic and melodic exercises relating to  technical issues. Then by approaching prepared pieces with associated questions.  Finally a series of meticulously graded sight-reading pieces brings the work together.
