Candidates prepare three exercises in total: 1a or 1b, 2a or 2b, and 3a or 3b.
Candidates choose one exercise to play first. Examiners then select one of the remaining two prepared exercises to be performed.

1a. Jump Start or 1b. Ta Aunt Ella! for octave leaps or finger technique
2a. Tongue-go or 2b. Cheeky Chops for articulation
3a. Smooth Strides or 3b. Finding the Pulse for breath control or rhythm

Tuba, E♭ bass or B♭ bass Pieces for Grade 5
Candidates perform a balanced programme of three pieces: two accompanied pieces from group A and one unaccompanied piece from group B. Bb bass players may also choose pieces from the Grade 5 euphonium lists. An own composition may be played instead of one listed piece.
