One of the highlights of Rossini's late years, the Petite Messe solennelle was composed at the age of 71 as a commission for Countess Louise Pillet-Will for the consecration of her private chapel. This is based on the Urtext of the Works of Giochino Rossini with a separate harmonium part of one part for piano I and II.
