Joseph Reinagle, 1762-1825, was a well-known cellist and cello teacher, who had worked under Joseph Haydn's direction during his time in London. These duets are highly recommended for tuition purposes, as the first few pieces use first position throughout and both parts contain rewarding challenges. The later pieces offer first-rate practice material for playing in the first 4 positions. Notation is based on that of the first edition and includes the original bowings and phrase markings.
