Wilhelm Petersen (1890-1957) is among those 20th-century composers who went their own way, away from the avant-garde. The violin is, apart from the piano, the only instrument for which Petersen wrote solo pieces. His Violin Sonata No. 3, composed between 1942 and 1945, is now available again as reprint.
