With his 'Meditations', the composer Eduard Pütz (1911-2000) from Cologne made an important contribution to 20th-century guitar chamber music. Both parts are treated equally, holding a dialogue in a meditative atmosphere. The third movement, which follows the form of the chorale prelude, quotes the cantus 'Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland', thus making this piece a suitable choice for concerts in the Advent season.
