Georg Christoph Biller, choirmaster of St. Thomas' Church in Leipzig, set out to arrange the probably most popular instrumental piece of his great predecessor in this position: the famous 'Air' from the Suite for Orchestra No. 3. In this work, he does without the vocalises commonly used in arrangements for choir or solo voices but combines the music with the central Christian wish for eternal peace.
