With more than 500 printed works, Popp is probably one of the most hard-working flute composers of all times. However, only a few of his flute tutors are in use today, while his concertant music has for the major part fallen into oblivion. But times and the flute world's aesthetic tolerance are changing: while even recently any "serious" musician wrinkled his or her nose at hearing the expression "salon music", it seems that we are now experiencing a real renaissance of Popp's œuvre. Zimmermann contributes to this Popp renaissance by re-publishing older editions already published in 1896 by Zimmermann Leipzig.
