Broish McRoish is a rhythmic piece based on traditional Gaelic sprechgesang – the so-called ‘Puirt a beul’ (mouth music). The text is meaningless, comparable to scat, and primarily serves to drive the piece forward rhythmically. The harmony slowly builds up from one to four voices and gives the singing a charming, unusual sound. 2’30” in length.
