Weber's clarinet concertos offer rewarding tasks to the player and give him the opportunity to show his brilliant virtuosity and achieve unusual effects while using all registers. Characterized by virtuoso colours and unbridled joy of playing, both works have become firmly established in the concert repertoire since then – although in the days of Weber the clarinet was still a new instrument in the orchestra.
