The lack of good literature from the time of Viennese Classicism for four flutes is one of the reasons for writing the transcription presented here. The original of Divertimento KV 136 is arranged for violin, violin, viola and bass and is written in D major. This arrangement reveals its greatest charm when played by 3 flutes and one alto flute in G; however, it can also be performed with 4 flutes. Flutes 3 and4 should be equipped with a B foot joint if possible, otherwise the 8va symbols in parantheses are applicable.
