Elegische Musik [Elegiac Music] for violin and piano I wrote in 1955 (more than a year before I started my lessons with Sándor Veress) for a school friend from Langenthal. I was under the impression of an analysis of the Berg Violin Concerto by Willi Reich. Without ever having heard it, I imagined a music that could have corresponded roughly to the unheard. It was not until 70 years later, on July 11, 2025, that the premiere took place in Lockenhaus after a minor revision. (Heinz Holliger)
