Elgar Howarth Concerto for Trumpet arr. Trumpet & Piano
The new Piano reduction cleverly compensates for theextendedpassages of untuned percussion in the original accompaniment, adding yet another dimension to this exciting and volatile work.
Elgar Howarth (b. 1935 d. 2025) was one of the foremost Brass musicians in Britain; highly regarded as a performer, conductor, composer and teacher.
Born into the northern Brass Band heritage, studying at the then Royal Manchester College of Music (now the RNCM) he went on to play the trumpet at the Royal Opera House and also with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He also conducted and composed for several Brass Bands, most notably the Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
He wrote extensively for solo Brass instruments, and taught at the the Royal Academy of Music.
