Hymn for violin and cello was commissioned by violinist Edna Mishell for her international musical project „Compassion Through Music“ which was dedicated to the memory of Yehudi Menuhin. The main idea of the work is based on the author’s desire to perform by musical terms different types of ritual prayers – exited, expressive, quiet, earnest, profound, meditative prayers. Accordingly the composer has used a wide spectrum of different sound characters, emotions and musical techniques.
