I believe in the sun was commissioned by the BBC and first performed and broadcast live at Britain’s inaugural Holocaust Memorial concert on 27 January 2001. This haunting song is scored by Howard Goodall for young voices with SATB choir, piano and optional strings (available from [email protected]). It is a setting of an anonymous text found written (originally in French) on the wall of a cave in Cologne, where Jews had been hiding before being deported to a concentration camp in 1941.
