Description

for SSAA unaccompanied.. A rich texture is used in Gombert's setting of Quam pulchra es, with all voices singing almost all of the time. This texture is created through refined imitative contrapuntal writing, rather than homophony, and may reflect the descriptive texts from the Song of Songs, which compare the Beloved to aspects of nature.
