Waldemar von Baussnern's Serenade dates from 1905 and is in four movements. A popular piece from the time of its publication up to the Second World War, it is a melodic work containing excellent part writing and a brilliant use of instrumental colour. It has been out of print for many years and deserves to be rediscovered.
