Dvorak Serenade in D minor Op.44 for Wind & Strings (Full Score)
for Oboe I,II; Clarinet I,II; Bassoon I,II; Contra-Bassoon; Horn I-III; Violoncello; Double Bass
In 1878 Dvorák was in Vienna and was so impressed by a performance of Mozart's Wind Serenade in B-flat major K. 361 that he wrote his own wind serenade within the space of two weeks after his return. Taking Mozart's piece as his model, he supplemented the wind band with a bass part for violoncello and double bass.
The first Urtext edition of Dvorak's response to Mozart's Wind Serenade K.361. Issued by Simrock in 1878, this Urtext edition draws on the first print while using the autograph to correct a number of mistakes and inconsistencies. Includes a detailed foreward by David R Beveridge and a Critical Commentary by Robin Tait.
