Description

This Sonata is the opening movement of a cantata, rearranged here for solo violin. The dotted rhythms recall the style of a French overture, a form often associated with pageantry and procession, and thus suggests Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, celebrated on Palm Sunday. Originally published in Bach for Violin.
