A scholarly-critical edition of the two Viola and Piano Sonatas written by Brahms and based on his work for clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld. Although it is uncertain when Brahms drafted the viola parts to the Clarinet and Piano Sonatas, there is no doubt that it is his work as they include important differences from the clarinet original in order to do justice to this string instrument. Edited by Clive Brown and Neal Peres Da Costa, this edition includes an extensive performance practice commentary with a section-by-section analysis of the work.
