‘There was a man of Newington’ is a light and jaunty work for upper voices. Commissioned by the London Youth Choir, it was first performed by the choir on 22 November 2013 – the centenary of Britten’s birth. Exhibiting L’Estrange’s gift for writing accessible and hugely appealing music with a unique twist, this piece is a great option for school and youth choirs.
