The first piece 'Auf der Straße läuft der Hund' [On the street walks the dog] is, as subtitled by the composer, an 'ostinato against indifference'. A short entertaining work. In contrast, the second piece 'Aus der Nacht tiefdunklem Schatten' [From the night's pitch-black shadow] is very enjoyable and dreamy.
